Who is Lynda Stables?
On 2nd May you have the opportunity to vote in the local elections to select your local RMBC councillors for the next 4 years. Its an important decision for your area. I hope you will vote for me ,Lynda Stables
I have never stood to be an RMBC councillor before so I will tell you a bit about my background. I hope this will convince you to give me your vote.
Like many of you, I have felt very unhappy about the decline of the Maltby and Hellaby township.. So, for the last couple of years, I have been working with your local Conservative councillors and trying to do something about it. I feel we are making progress even though as councillors they inherited many decisions made by the previous councillors and MP
After I retired from my career with South Yorkshire police in 2015, I worked part time and I also had a small property business that I ran with my husband. I had more free time to follow what was being done in our area and to be quite frank, At that point, I thought not a lot. I felt the area was declining and nothing was getting done. I had never seen my MP Kevin Barron and the only councillor I saw was when it came up for an election.
Unfortunately, in early 2019, our family had the most horrendous year, just as we were all going into lockdown, my son had a massive stroke followed the next year by bowel cancer. To say I appreciate the NHS is an understatement as my son wouldn’t be here without them. The treatment he received from everyone in the NHS was amazing.
As our family started to mend and get back to normal , I began to notice our new MP. Alexander Stafford and the new Conservative Councillors Adam Tinsley, Simon Ball and Lee Hunter, I recognised that they were trying to get things done and were working hard for the area. After following them on social media for a while, I decided I wanted to join them. I wanted to be part of the change that could happen in the Maltby and Hellaby wards!
In 2022 I was elected as an MTC Councillor, and I have been actively involved with them for the last 18 months. I have also been a ward campaigner for the Maltby and Hellaby Conservatives.
My personal vision is that On a local level I want our open spaces to be more attractive with increased maintenance and suitable tree planting. I want the little play parks to be better maintained. Id push for increased road, pavement and grass verge maintenance. I will encourage and support local community groups and events so the whole of the area feels involved and this in turn helps to build a strong community identity and social values
Id actively push RMBC for more improvement and investment in our areas. Its about time Labour led MBC and the Labour combined south Yorkshire mayor stopped spending all the money on Rotherham town centre and ill thought out projects . We massively contribute to Supertram that doesn’t even come to our area and we have no reliable public link transport to it? The money they receive is for all of us not just for their personal vanity projects.
I have has a varied 40yr plus working career that includes different roles as a police officer within South Yorkshire police, also Sales, customer service and Administration. I have worked with many organisations and people from all backgrounds, communities and age groups. I believe my work and life skills will make me a good and effective councillor. I am ready to serve and support the people of Hellaby and Maltby West Ward.
