Late last year, Councillors Simon Burnett and David Fisher were contacted by a Whiston resident to inform them that the Ivy running along the wall on High Street was incredibly overgrown, creating a visibility issue as well as a potential risk to the structure of the wall.
To prevent a potential future issue, they immediately contacted the relevant Council departments to request that it was cut back, for the safety of all road users.
They are pleased to announce that this work has now been completed.
David said:
Simon and I would like to say a huge thank you to the Council Teams who came out and removed the Ivy so quickly after we requested it. We hope the road now feels much safer for all those travelling along it.
Simon added “If you know of anywhere in Sitwell Ward where there is more excess greenery, please do let us know so we can look to have it taken care of.
