Councillors Tom and Zach attended the unveiling of THOR of Thurcroft today. The sculpture was unveiled by Deputy Mayor for Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
It has been four years in the making, from the original ideas for a piece of public art as part of the Section 106 agreements when the Hedgerows estate in Thurcroft was built.
The unveiling event had a storytelling tent from the THOR book that was written with local children on what THOR would mean to them. Plus a chance to get creative with a chance to make cress heads and clay sculptures that originally inspired the storybook.
Councillors will be working with the local community groups to build the area around the sculpture to include wild flowers and seating to expand the project and ensure that the story of THOR lives on throughout Thurcroft.
If you are passing the recreation ground, do pop down and have a look!
