At full council, Cllr Mills tried to get the Cabinet Member for Transport Cllr Dominic Beck to agree to help support a speed reduction outside Ravenfield Primary School in the interest of safety.
The short answer is NO they’re not going to support a speed reduction as they’ve already introduced school 20mph signs and Billy and Belinda bollards.
The 20mph speed limit signs have been looked at with one of them needing to be replaced due to “being beyond repair” and the Billy and Belinda Bollards doesn’t stop children stepping out onto the road.
Lewis was not planning on giving a supplementary question as he thought the council would do the right thing and support the reduction but how wrong was he.
So, Cllr Mills asked Cllr Beck “Is it going to take the death of a child to reduce this speed limit”
Cllr Mills and Cllr Reynolds will continue to work with local groups, the school and police to get the best outcome for Ravenfield residents.
Our fight does not stop here.
